The Textile Design Challenge is now in its 3rd year and supported by Texere. It was created by Caroline McNamara and developed with the Warner Textile Archive. Originally aimed at foundation level it soon captured the imagination of tutors and textile students at other levels of study.
Over 250 students across Britain and Ireland entered the 1st Challenge. An exhibition of work was held at Braintree Museum, Essex and Morley Gallery, London during the 2013 London Design Festival. The 2nd Textile Challenge on the Theme of ‘Art Deco’ was opened up to school students, adult A-level students, amateur and professional designers, as well as students studying textiles, design and fashion. A selection of juried entries were exhibited in 2014 at The Jersey Textile Showcase, The Dominion Theatre during the London Design Festival, and at The Architecture Factory, Cork during Irish Design Week.
